Wiebke Smith

Wiebke Smith - Associate Lay Minister and House Group Leader

Wiebke was born in Hamburg and grew up in Schleswig-Holstein, north of Hanburg. She studied theology and education at Hamburg University to qualify as a teacher.  In 1964 she married Edward, and taught German at Guildford County Grammar School for girls. They adopted two children, Stephen and Katharine.  In 1988 she was licensed as a Reader in the Church of England, and she exercised her ministry at St Nicolas Church in Great Bookham in Surrey for 46 years until moving in 2010 to Dorset to be nearer their children and grandchildren, all of whom live in Dorset. She now enjoys her ministry at St John’s Broadstone.  She also helps needy children at Henbury First School in Corfe Mullen, teaching German to a group of adults and helping at Corfe Mullen Luncheon Club, as well as enjoying gardening, playing badminton and singing in the Broadstone Choir.
