Parish Information

St.John's Parish Church, Broadstone

Welcome to St John’s! We’re glad you’ve found our website, and hope this gives you a flavour of who we are.

St John’s Church (our full name is St John the Baptist Church) is an Anglican church at the heart of Broadstone. As a church we aim to be inclusive and serve the local community: we would hope to give anyone who comes to us a very warm welcome. We are members of the Inclusive Church network, support and welcome the LGBTQIA+ community and offer blessings to couples in a same-sex relationship in existing services. If the C of E later allows us to conduct standalone same-sex blessing services, we will offer that also.

We stand in a middle tradition with a variety of both traditional services (including a monthly 8am BCP Eucharist) and those which suit families and children. Our main service is held at 10am. Mostly we use Common Worship liturgies at our services, and we enjoy celebrating the different Seasons of the church calendar.

We have a slightly shorter service called All Age at 10am on the third Sunday of the month and also offer Café Breakfast Church on the third Saturday on alternate months at 10am, where everyone can enjoy making crafts, singing songs, exploring Bible stories and eating a wonderful breakfast as we go! We also offer Muddy Church, a very popular family way of engaging with nature and the eco agenda, involving crafts, planting and learning about eco issues. We are a FairTrade Church and have our Bronze Award as Eco Church.

We are delighted when people approach us to have their children baptised or want to get married, and we will do all that we can to enable those occasions to be very special ones for you. We are of course here for those sadder times too, times of bereavement or times of crisis, and hope you feel able to contact us if you need our help or services. See under Life Events on our menu bar for further information about these.

We try to keep the website up-to-date but it is always worth checking with the Vicar 07712 022 306 (revdhelenbailey@gmail.com ) or the Parish Administrator 01202  697641 (office@stjohnschurchbroadstone.org.uk)

We believe that the good news of the Christian faith is that every individual and all creation might flourish as we receive God’s love and care for one another. If you are thinking of joining our church or new to the area, do give us a call, and we’d be happy to visit or give you any further information you need. Take a look at our welcome leaflet (coming soon) to see what else we offer throughout the week: a Thursday Coffee Morning, St John’s Fellowship, a Craft and Chat Group, and lots more.

We hope to be able to welcome you in person soon!

With my very best wishes

Revd Helen Bailey
