Eric Whapples - Churchwarden
Eric is a Chartered Building Surveyor who founded his own practice in 1973 shortly after qualifying. He and his wife Sue then built their own house in Ashwood Drive taking up residence in 1979 when they joined the congregation. Their son Daniel was baptised in the church in 1980 and their daughter in 1981.
In 1986, Sue started the first ever Beaver Scout colony in Broadstone using the church hall for their meetings. Sadly Sue lost her battle with bowel cancer in 2002 and Eric moved to Blandford but continued to attend services at St John’s in Broadstone.
In 2007 Eric moved back to Northbourne to look after his aged parents and with their passing he then moved to Kinson where is he is renovating a bungalow whilst he continues to work fulltime in his professional practice.
Although Eric does not now live in the parish, having attended services at St John’s for nearly forty years and as he continues to do so, his roots are in the community of Broadstone.
